Coast to Coast: Nature-Based Solutions for Climate, Biodiversity & People
On 7th November 2022, in the COP26 Green Zone, the Environment Agency's (EA) Estuaries and Coasts Planning (ECP) manager, Roger Proudfoot, was joined by colleagues from the RSPB to provide a joint session on “Coast to coast: nature-based solutions for climate, biodiversity and people”.
This session showcased a short film on coastal wetland habitat restoration examples from around the world, including the UK Medmerry scheme, which was the first UK project to achieve official accreditation as a Nature-based Solution (NbS) from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The event provided Roger with an opportunity to highlight the ongoing and future work of ReMeMaRe and the initiatives role in supporting nationally strategic estuarine and coastal habitat and ecosystem restoration. This video is for the full session, whilst the "Tidal Wetlands" short film shown during the session, can be viewed following the link below.

Restoring Meadow, Marsh and Reef (ReMeMaRe): COP26 short film
On 2nd November 2022 at COP26, the Virtual Ocean Pavilion (VOP) provided free online access to a wealth of information, from talks, to videos, to posters to virtual interaction with participants from around the world.
In preparation for the VOP, the Environment Agency's Estuary and Coast Planning (ECP) team produced a short 3 minute video, providing an overview of the “Restoring Meadows, Marshes and Reefs (ReMeMaRe)” habitat restoration initiative. This video was used during the launch of the VOP and was subsequently hosted on the Defra booth throughout the summit.
