An international multidisciplinary journal devoted to the analysis of saline water phenomena ranging from the outer edge of the continental shelf to the upper limits of the tidal zone.
The journal provides a unique forum, unifying the multidisciplinary approaches to the study of the oceanography of estuaries, coastal zones, and continental shelf seas. It features original research papers, review papers and short communications treating such disciplines as zoology, botany, geology, sedimentology, physical oceanography and their links to the social sciences and environmental management.
The journal was started by the Association's founding members in 1972 and is published by Elsevier in association with ECSA; as such ECSA nominates at least one of the five Editors-in-Chief. Currently ECSA Council members Tim Jennerjahn and Steve Mitchell are Editors-in-Chief. Submissions to the journal should be made in the normal way through the website at http://www.journals.elsevier.com/estuarine-coastal-and-shelf-science.
