IMPORTANT UPDATE - Your data and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

The GDPR comes into force in the UK on 25th May 2018. As ECSA is registered as a UK charity, it must comply with this law, which is the enactment of a European Union Directive. It applies to all personal data held by ECSA.

You have the right to know what data we hold, how long we keep them for, how we use them, and to have your records removed if you so wish. ECSA has reviewed its data holdings and updated its privacy policy, and we encourage you to read this [https://ecsa.international/estuarine-coastal-sciences-association-ecsa-p.... Data (e.g. name, address, membership status, etc) will normally be held for up to three years, unless you request its removal earlier than this.

By joining ECSA you agree to receiving communications from ECSA, such as emails re newsletters, Bulletins and membership subscription reminders. In future you may have to tick a box when you renew your subscription to make it clear that you accept these terms and conditions, and you will be unable to proceed to members’ pages unless you have done so.

The aim of the legislation is to increase transparency for individuals and to increase data security, something ECSA Council wholly supports.
